Healthcare, schooling and books for Christian families in Pakistan

Because the basics are what change a family’s future

A child who stays in school. A parent who can afford treatment. A house with books in it. None of it is dramatic, and all of it decides what a life looks like twenty years on. We work with the families in and around Rawalpindi for whom these things are hardest to reach.

The four programs

Everything the foundation runs, what each one does, and who it reaches.

Healthcare

Who it serves
Families who cannot meet the cost of care.
Where
Rawalpindi and surrounding settlements, Punjab.
Ask about healthcare
What happens
Families bring us their doctor bills, prescriptions or hospital estimates. We check the details and pay the hospital or pharmacy directly, so the patient is treated straight away rather than waiting for money to be raised.
What a family gets
Necessary surgery, hospital stays, doctor visits and monthly medicines covered, without taking on debt they cannot carry.

Education

Who it serves
School-age children in the families we work with.
Where
Rawalpindi, Punjab.
Ask about education
What happens
We work directly with local schools to clear unpaid fees, and buy the required books, notebooks and fitted uniforms before classes start.
What a family gets
Their children stay in school, with a full set of supplies, a new uniform, and relief from the money pressure that was pushing them out.

Children’s Outreach

Who it serves
Any child in the orphanages, paediatric wards and care centres we visit.
Where
Rawalpindi, Punjab.
Ask about outreach
What happens
Our team visits orphanages, paediatric wards and care centres to spend time with the children. We serve fresh, warm meals and hand out age-appropriate gifts, toys and treats.
What a child gets
A proper meal, a gift of their own, company for an afternoon, and a break from the routine of an institution or a hospital room.

Rushlight Library Initiative

Who it serves
Pastors and lay teachers serving fellowships with no library of their own, students preparing for ministry, and the study groups we teach within.
Where
Pakistan. Borrowing is free.
Visit the Rushlight site
What happens
We acquire sound theological literature and lend it. Books are catalogued, issued on loan, returned and issued again, so a single volume serves many readers over many years. Where a serving pastor needs a reference work to preach from week by week, we place it with him permanently; everything else circulates.
Why it is needed
English-language theological literature is abundant in the West and scarce here. Little that is sound can be had locally, and what must be imported is beyond the reach of those who need it. The shortage is not of readers but of pages.
